About Us
Light of the World Christian Fellowship strives to live out God’s grace by supporting our communities with life sustaining, outreach ministries. As we grew deeper with a greater understanding of God’s grace, we made a decision in 2003, to start an outreach ministry on West Oahu (Kalaeloa). It was a ministry to share the love of God to everyone regardless of race, color, creed, ethnicity, gender or social class, including special care for men and women in drug rehab and alcohol recovery programs, and even those released from incarceration.
Our mission is to share the love of Jesus in real and tangible ways such as volunteering in community service projects to feed the poor, hungry, homeless, marginalized, lost and hurting people who have lost all hope. Our faith compels us to live out the gospel by reaching out to prodigal sons and daughters who have been ostracized and rejected by communities and sometimes by their own families.
Like the Story of the Prodigal Son, we’ve found men and women and even entire families living lives of desperation, loneliness, isolation, poverty and destitution – who needed help but didn’t know what to do or where to turn to. It became clear that our faith had to be more than just loving God, we had to love our neighbors and by the same extention, show love and acceptance to those who had lost all sense of hope and dignity. It didn’t matter how they fell from grace, the church became a source of hope in providing life sustaining meals and comfort for those who had lost everything.
The outreach attracted other volunteers who also wanted to make a difference, so we opened our arms to embrace other churches regardless of their religious affiliation or denominational background, who just wanted to help and share the vision. It was then, that we realized that we were pioneering a new concept – “a church without walls,” thus sharing God’s vision as co-equals and co-partners, seeking the lost and working together in the spirit of unity (“We are many parts – but one body”). And it didn’t matter who got the credit except Jesus Christ!
We are seeking committed individuals, volunteers, churches, businesses and organizations who are interested in co-partnering and are willing to support the outreach. If you are that individual or organization – we need you! Please contact us for more information.
Mahalo and Aloha Pumehana!
